A Big Time-Saving Improvement Is Coming to the Gospel Era!

I have been creating Bible journaling kits for my classes for several years now, and looking back, I can see just how much the process has evolved.

Some of what I am doing now seems so obvious to me. But a few years ago, I honestly had no idea where all of this was going!

There wasn't a roadmap sitting in front of me for combining in-depth Bible study with printable Bible journaling and junk journaling. I was learning as I went.

I tried things. Some worked beautifully. Some were too complicated. Sometimes I put too much in one place. Other times, halfway through creating a class, I would realize that a certain pocket, card, or journaling piece would have made much more sense inside a particular lesson.

And every class taught me something.

Bible Journaling Has Changed Too

When I first created the 12 Bible Eras, Bible journaling looked very different. My original classes focused largely on digital art kits. This was years before junk journaling became the wonderful creative movement it is today!

As junk journaling became a bigger part of our classes, the kits grew too.

We added beautiful papers, pockets, tags, journaling cards, fussy cuts, word art, illustrations, interactive pieces, and more.

I loved being able to give you so many choices!

But eventually, I realized something important:

More isn't necessarily better if you have to hunt through a huge kit to find what you need.

That realization has changed the way I am approaching the Gospel Era.

I Think I Have Finally Found Our Rhythm

Throughout 2026, each Bible Era has included a large Base Kit along with smaller Lesson Kits.

That is not changing.

What is changing is how I divide the pieces between those kits.

As I worked through the classes this year, I began noticing where I could save you time. Instead of putting so many pieces into the large Base Kit and then asking you to search through it as you work through the lessons, I can do more of that organizing for you.

It all seems rather obvious now!

But it certainly wasn't obvious when I started.

After several years of trial and error, I think I have finally landed on a system that makes much more sense.

The Base Kit Will Build the Journal

Think of the Base Kit as the foundation of your journal. Its main purpose will be to help you prepare your Gospel Era journal.

It will include the beautiful coordinating papers, backgrounds, basic pockets, and foundational pieces you need to get your journal ready before or as we begin the class.

Think of it as preparing the house before you move in.

Then we get to the lessons.

The Lesson Kits Will Do More

This is where you will notice the biggest improvement.

Each Lesson Kit will contain more of the pieces you need for that particular lesson.

Scripture cards, illustrations, journaling pieces, word art, special pockets, tags, and other lesson-specific elements will be placed right there with the lesson whenever possible.

Instead of stopping in the middle of your study and wondering:

• Where did I see that card?
• Was that pocket in the Base Kit?
• Which PDF do I need to print?
• My goal is for you to simply:

Open the lesson.
Open the Lesson Kit.
Print what you want.
Study.
Create.

Less Hunting. More Time in the Word.

That is really what this improvement is all about.

I know many of you are busy. Bible study and Bible journaling shouldn't require an afternoon of searching through computer files before you can begin!

I want to do more of the organizing on my end so there is less organizing required on your end.

This new approach should mean:

• Less time searching through downloads
• Less unnecessary printing
• Less wasted paper and ink
• Fewer decisions about what you need
• Easier organization from lesson to lesson
• More time actually studying God's Word
• More time enjoying your journal

And hopefully, a lot less time in your Downloads folder!

Trial and Error Led Us Here

I don't regret the trial and error of the last few years because it taught me things I couldn't have known when I started.

Sometimes you have to walk the road before you know where the potholes are.

Every class helped me see something a little more clearly.

Every journal helped me understand how the pieces actually get used.

And every Bible Era this year has helped me refine the process even more.

I have learned that the creative materials should serve the Bible study, not make you work harder to use them.

That's the direction I want to keep going.

Same Idea. Much Better Organized.

You will still receive a beautiful coordinating Base Kit.

You will still receive Lesson Kits throughout the class.

You will still have printable PDFs and digital PNGs.

You are not getting less.

In fact, the Lesson Kits will contain more of what you need exactly when you need it.

The big difference is organization.

The Base Kit prepares the journal.
The Lesson Kit completes the lesson.

It has taken me a couple of years of experimenting, learning, changing, and refining to get here.

And now that I see it, it seems so simple!

Next Stop: The Gospel Era!

I am especially excited to introduce this improved format with the Gospel Era.

We are stepping into the New Testament and into the life and ministry of Jesus. I want the creative side of this class to flow naturally alongside our study, without unnecessary searching and sorting getting in the way.

My hope is that when you sit down with a Gospel Era lesson, you can spend less time figuring out what to print.
