When I sit down to make a journal, getting started can feel overwhelming. Creating backgrounds from scratch is time-consuming. Assembling signatures requires patience and precision. Gluing pages in the right order becomes a puzzle I'm not always sure I've solved correctly. And double-sided printing? I have to reprint often because margins didn't align. The passion is there, but the prep work can be exhausting.
What if I told you there's a way to skip all of that frustration?
There is. I went back to the disc-bound system I'd used in my Happy Planner years ago, and just like that, all those obstacles disappeared.
Disc-Bound Journal System
The disc-bound system is simple, flexible, and forgiving. Think of it like a door that swings both ways. You're never locked into one layout or one order. You can breathe, create, and adjust as the Spirit leads.
Freedom to Rearrange
With disc-bound, every page can be moved without tearing or damaging anything. Want to place a pocket in a different spot? Move a layout? Tuck a reflection behind another page? You can do it in seconds. It's creativity without limits.

Room to Grow
A disc-bound journal grows with you. Add prayer lists, verse studies, sermon notes, pockets, flaps, envelopes; whatever helps you hide God's Word in your heart. When life shifts, your journal shifts with you.
Perfect for Our Print-at-Home Kits
Our 8.5x11 pages trim beautifully into the Classic Happy Planner size (7 x 9.25 inches). The disc-bound system holds these pages perfectly and keeps your journal neat and easy to flip through.

Gentle for Beginners and Pros
Whether this is your first Treasure Journal or your twentieth, disc-bound is kind. If something doesn't fit, simply pop it out and place it somewhere else. No glue mistakes, no ruined pages—just peaceful flexibility.

🌀 What You Need for a Disc-Bound Journal
If you want to try the disc-bound system (and it's always optional!), here's exactly what you'll need. Avialble at Walmart, Amazon and all craft stores:
1. Discs for a journal of about 30 pages:
- 1.25-inch discs – This gives extra breathing room while keeping the journal manageable.

2. A Punch
You can use:
- The Classic 9-hole punch
- A simple 4-hole punch (punch twice along the edge)
3. A Trimmer or Scissors
Trim each printed 8.5x11 page down to 7 x 9.25 inches. This makes your pages uniform and ready for the discs. I use this Fiskars Paper Trimmer.
4. A Cover
Create a lovely cover using:
- A laminated page
- A sturdy file folder
- A Happy Planner cover
- Or decorated cardstock
Choose whatever suits your style.

✂️ Optional, But Wonderful
You never have to use disc-bound. Ring binders, stitched journals, notebooks, and glue-bound books all work beautifully. The goal isn't the binding—the goal is creating a space where God can speak to your heart through His Word.
Disc-bound simply offers freedom, room to grow, and a gentle structure that many find refreshing.
