I’m Robin Sampson McCarthy, and I’ve walked through enough long nights to know what it feels like to wait for light. Seasons of confusion, fear, loss, detours, and deep questions—all of them shaped me long before I ever taught my first class.
For years I tried to force clarity, push through the darkness, and “be strong” on my own. But the light never came from striving. It came when I finally stopped and let God meet me right where I was.
My breakthrough came the same way the Nativity unfolded—quietly, gently, in the middle of ordinary days. I learned that God’s light often arrives in ways we don’t expect: a whisper in prayer, a Scripture that suddenly becomes alive, a moment of peace when nothing around you has changed. That’s when I realized the dark isn’t something to fear—it’s the backdrop where His light shines brightest.
For more than three decades, I’ve walked beside women who are navigating their own shadows, teaching them how to see God’s hand in the small moments and how to trace His light through Scripture. Through creative Bible journaling, deep study, and honest reflection, I’ve watched hearts awaken—not because circumstances changed, but because God illuminated them from within.
That is the heartbeat of this study.
What if breakthrough didn't come from pushing through the dark, but from opening your heart to the One who steps into it?
